Data Center 2.0…The Evolution of the Virtualized Data Center
Quail III
sponsored by IP Pathways

Shane Maas
IT Manager
Guide One Insurance

Virtualization changed the data center by allowing consolidation, unification and simplified management. The physical footprint of the data center became smaller as underutilized servers were virtualized and consolidated. Fast forward 4-5 years later in the virtualization journey and with expanded capabilities in both hardware and software, we are beginning the 2nd phase of virtualization which we call Data Center 2.0. Data Center 2.0 is about further consolidation and includes Tier 1 applications and desktops. The end state is a more efficient, consolidated, scalable and reliable data center that allows IT to be more reactive to the needs of the business. Shane Maas of GuideOne will discuss GuideOne’s virtualization journey and how Data Center 2.0 is benefiting IT and the business as a whole.
