Sharon K. Welna is the Associate Director of Information Systems Compliance and Project Planning at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha NE. In her position, she is responsible for the implementation of HIPAA security regulations for UNMC, UNMC Physicians, University Dental Associates and The Nebraska Medical Center. Ms. Welna is also responsible for implementation of GLBA security regulations and PCI compliance. Ms. Welna has over 30 years of experience in health care information technology. She was a member of the Saint Joseph Hospital Strategic Planning Committee, the Creighton University Technology Advisory Committee, and the Information and Technology in the Workplace Planning Committee. She earned her B.A. degree in political science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her M.B.A. degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
