John has been the Chief Information Officer for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) for the past year, which includes managing the Office of Information Services (IS). IS is responsible for the agency’s technology infrastructure, the support and development of existing business systems, the delivery and deployment of new systems, and technology-related services. IS employees provide systems development, network support, application delivery and IT security services to over 25,000 network users throughout the state of Ohio. In partnership with its customers, IS has delivered numerous enhancements to existing systems resulting in millions of data transactions a year and increased services to Ohioans. Some of those programs include Medicaid, Unemployment Compensation, Child Support, Child Welfare, and Workforce Development. The office is committed to assuring the first rate support necessary to successfully deliver vital services to Ohio’s children and families.
Prior to being named CIO, John served the department for over five years as the Assistant Deputy Director of IS, focusing on Operations and Technology. John has over 30 years state and local service in Ohio, working previously at the Ohio Department of Health, the Lake County General Health District and for the Portage County Commissioners.
John holds a Master of Public Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University. He received a project management certificate from Boston University and is a graduate of the Gartner Executive Programs CIO Academy.
