Mike Van Orden

Sportsman’s Warehouse

Mr. Van Orden is the Chief Technology Officer of Sportsman's Warehouse. Sportsman's Warehouse is a national retailer of outdoor sporting goods, mainly hunting, camping and fishing. Mr. Van Orden has been with the company since December of 2000. When he joined the company they had just opened their 5 th store. At one time they had 71 stores in 30 states. With the recent reorganization they closed and sold a number of stores. They currently have 26 stores in 14 states.

Mr. Van Orden graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

He has worked in IT for various industries; High Tech (Litton, Guidance and Control Systems), Mortgage Banking (First Security and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage) and now the Retail industry with Sportsman's Warehouse.

Sportsman's Warehouse was Retail Information Systems News’ Retailer of the Year for 2003 in the Quick Growth category. In 2006 RIS News awarded Sportsman's Warehouse, and presented to Mr. Van Orden, it’s Fast Track Growth Award. He has spoken at numerous IT functions including a number of RIS News conference panels, the Qwest Communications national director’s conference in Denver, Utah State’s Partners in Business and BAI’s Retail Delivery Conferences in Las Vegas. In 2004 he was named one of the countries top 15 Pacesetters for Retail IT and was part of the RIS News Special Report CIO Roundtable in 2005.
