Effective April 1, 2008, Timothy G. Schaefer will be promoted to Vice President and Chief Information Officer and the head of the Information Systems Department for Northwestern Mutual, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was named an executive officer in May 2007.

From February 2006 through March 2008, Schaefer was responsible for the development and support of application systems covering insurance products and operations, retail and institutional investments, field technology and compensation, and corporate functions. Currently, Schaefer is a member of the company’s Human Resources Committee and Enterprise Operations Integration Committee.

From February 2002 through 2005, Schaefer worked as Director in the Policyowner Services department. His roles included Director of Systems and Director and then Vice President of Life Benefits. In this role, he was responsible for Northwestern Mutual’s life insurance claim processes, and oversaw several other life insurance benefit areas.

Schaefer joined Northwestern Mutual in June 1988 as a programmer. He held several positions in the Information Systems department before joining Policyowner Services in 2002. A native of Milwaukee, Schaefer graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1988 with a B.B.A, and later earned a master’s degree in Management and Organizational Behavior from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc , WI .
