Catherine A. Porter currently holds the position of Vice President and Chief Information Officer for John Deere Credit in Des Moines, Iowa.  She was appointed to this position effective 01 September 2004.  This role includes specific responsibilities for the Credit business, as well as corporate responsibilities with the other divisions of John Deere. 

Cathy’s formal educational background is in Mathematics, having received both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa.  Before joining John Deere, she held positions as a University instructor and as a programmer with Viking Pump, a manufacturer of specialty pump equipment.   

Cathy joined John Deere in 1978 at the Waterloo, Iowa facility. With Deere, she has held various positions in the Information Technology field, starting as a programmer and progressing through analysis, project management, supervision, and into management positions.  These positions have been at manufacturing units, division and corporate levels of responsibility.  The positions have been physically located in North America, Australia, and Europe, with responsibilities reaching also into South America.
