As Director of Information Security and IT Risk Control of Williams, David Poczynek directs overall IT Security strategy, management system processes, programs and activities throughout Williams utilizing both internal and outsourced assets. Acts as the focal point for all communications related to information security, both with internal staff and third-party providers. Works with executive management, to determine the appropriate levels of IT risk for the enterprise, and collaborates with impacted business units and key stakeholders to meet compliance and security strategic objectives. Mr. Poczynek joined Williams in 2004.
Mr. Poczynek has more than 15 years of IT risk management experience in both the financial and oil and gas industries. Before joining Williams, he was an operational risk manager for outsourced technology operations for Bank of America, and served as manager of security strategic planning and risk management for Saudi Aramco Oil Company from 1998 to 2003.
Mr. Poczynek is a retired US Army Officer, having served 22 years and in several capacities to include: Special Operations, Automation Officer and Information Management Officer for the Army Special Operations Command. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science, and multiple industry certifications including: Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). He has published or contributed to several publications, the most recent being the DOE/DHS “Road Map to Secure Critical Infrastructure in the Oil and Gas Sector”.
