Maria Mann
Chief Technology Officer
JP Morgan Retirement Plan Services
Ms. Mann began her career as programmer for DuPont in 1984. From there, she worked her way up through various manufacturing organizations as a developer, business systems analyst and project manager. By 1989, she was the owner and president of Innovative Business Concepts, an information technology consulting company serving privately-held companies and state/local government agencies.
After 10 years, she sold her company and joined the Vlasic Foods Company. Her efforts there were recognized by
Information Week magazine for running a top IT department following the successful implementation of new IT systems in 14 manufacturing facilities and the corporate offices within one year. She was also recognized by
CIO Magazine as a future CIO.
Ms. Mann joined Bank One in December 1999 with a mission to create and lead a new function called Information Management. With her business partners, she led the Data Management Council that was critical to the success of the firm’s credit card replatforming initiative. As a result, she was asked to join the Executive Leadership Team during the merger of JPMorgan Chase and Bank One. In this role, she led the “suite-selection” process to determine best-of-breed solutions for the post-merger organization.
After the merger, Ms. Mann was asked to develop a relationship with a national bank in China to launch credit cards in that country. She was subsequently named IT leader for the Insourcing Program, in which the firm’s Credit Card line of business completed a five-year transformation effort. During that time, she also had day-to-day responsibilities for Data Warehousing, Finance, Supply Management, Development, and Project Management.
During her years at Card Services, Ms. Mann was a leader in the Adelante employee networking group for employees of Hispanic heritage and an active participant in the Women’s Network at JPMorgan Chase.
At this time, Ms. Mann is Chief Technology Officer for Retirement Plan Services, part of JPMorgan Chase’s Asset Management line of business. As CTO for this growing area, she manages a team of more than 150 technology professionals with responsibility for providing strategic leadership for the RPS Information Technology re-platforming program to position RPS as an even stronger player in the highly competitive retirement services market.
Maria Alvarez Mann holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from West Virginia University. She is currently residing in Kansas City, Missouri with her husband, Jerry. Her two sons attend Drexel University in Philadelphia.
