Jim Jones joined Great River Energy as chief information officer (CIO) in May 2003. He later was named vice president and CIO. Jones oversees the information technology division with primary responsibility for deployment and support of Great River Energy computers, databases, applications, communications network and infrastructure. Jones represents GRE on the Cooperative Research Council (CRC) overseeing the Cooperative Research Network, and he serves as Chair of the CRC Membership, Alliances and Partnerships Committee.
Prior to joining Great River Energy, Jones held IT management assignments at Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO) and the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool (MAPP). He received a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics from Hamline University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas.
