David Greer
Executive Director
Institute for Information Security (iSec)
David Greer currently serves as the Executive Director of the Institute for Information Security
(iSec) and is charged with the development, implementation and supervision of the institute’s
mission to produce exceptional graduates and technical discoveries in the information security
field. He also serves as the liaison between iSec and industry, government, and academic
partnerships. In addition, Greer’s duties extend to seeking research funding for classified,
unclassified, public and private projects.
He is considered one of the leaders in information security and digital forensics education and
training, having briefed US Senators, FBI, IRS, National Security Agency and Department of
Defense on information security, critical infrastructure protection, cyber crimes and digital
forensics.
Greer brings more than 10 years of combined experience to his position, including time as an
information security and digital forensics consultant, information security coordinator, elearning
coordinator, software compliance specialist, and president and director of training for
Meketrex Technologies, an innovative information security online training company. He earned
a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University in management information systems,
Master of Science in computer science from The University of Tulsa (TU) and is currently
completing his doctorate degree.
Prior to returning to Tulsa, Greer spent five years as an information security coordinator
developing cyber security continuing education and e-learning courses for the Oklahoma
Department of Career and Technology Education. He is a founding member and past
coordinator of the Cyber Security Education Consortium (CSEC), a National Science
Foundation Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Center of Excellence for Information
Security and Digital Forensics that focuses on building a high-tech workforce in the
Southwestern United States. He conducts continuing education and instructor training courses
in information assurance, secure electronic commerce, network security, enterprise security
management, digital forensics, security awareness, information security integration and cyber
crime investigations. Greer has also designed and built three information assurance and digital
forensics mobile laboratories for use by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, as
well as security professionals.
He is an active Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and has received all
five federal information assurance certifications from the Committee on National Security
Systems (CNSS 4011-4015). Greer has recently been certified as an official ISC2 CISSP
instructor, one of only a few in the country.
Greer has filed for several U.S. Patents in the area of digital forensics; most recently a patent
titled "Redaction of Digital Information from an Electronic Device." Currently pending, the
program works to successfully remove sensitive information from electronic evidence.
