Dustin Fennell has over 16 years experience in the education domain in the roles of a faculty member, administrator, and for the past ten years as an IT professional where he specializes in strategic technology alignment and integrating technology to enhance teaching and learning opportunities. In his current role of chief information officer (CIO) of Scottsdale Community College, he is responsible for all phases of implementation of both instructional and administrative information and technology systems.

Under his leadership, Scottsdale Community College has leveraged end-to-end virtualization strategies to transform the way IT services are delivered to faculty, staff, and students while increasing access and reducing TCO. This innovative strategy has received national recognition and numerous innovation awards. Dustin is a frequent session presenter on virtualization strategies at conferences for EDUCAUSE, CIO, League of Innovation, Citrix, and other organizations. Dustin is the 2010 CIO of the Year from the Arizona Technology Council and a 2010 Honoree of CIO Magazine’s prestigious CIO 100 award.

Dustin holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics Management from Southern Illinois University, a master's degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Phoenix, and is currently working on his dissertation towards earning his PhD with a specialization in Project Management from Capella University. He serves on the technology advisory committee for the American Foundation for the Blind, serves on several customer advisory boards, and is involved in furthering the practice of technology leadership through a number of peer-based organizations.
