Denise Matthews

NAIC
Denise Matthews is the Director of the National Association of Insurance Commissioner’s Information Systems Division. As the Director of the Division, she is responsible for providing leadership to staff within several functional areas. She has responsibility for the overall management of business specific application development related to the NAIC’s financial and market regulatory databases including data administration services; and various enterprise technology services groups including application and data security administration; business continuity planning, production release management and Help Desk. Ms. Matthews is also responsible for ensuring the enterprise application architecture and methodology supports the mission, objectives, and strategic plans of the Association.
Ms. Matthews currently provides staff support to several NAIC Information Technology committees and contributes to many other NAIC member driven business and oversight related committees.
Prior to becoming the Director, Ms. Matthews performed the duties and responsibilities of the Financial Systems and Services (FSS) Application Manager in the NAIC’s IS Division. In that capacity, Ms. Matthews was responsible for the NAIC’s Insurance Company Financial Data Repository, including development of applications and systems used to define and process data to the world’s largest insurer financial database, and associated end user applications used by NAIC staff and state regulators engaged in activities related to facilitating insurance company financial solvency regulation.
Ms. Matthews received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
