Daniel C. Brown, a business technology executive for Xcel Energy, is responsible for the company’s infrastructure including LAN/WAN networks, telecom, radio, microwave, servers, and storage. He manages a $60 million budget.

Brown began his career with IBM in Chicago as a systems engineer. His career included engineering, sales, and manufacturing across many industries. When IBM purchased Lotus Notes, Brown led the worldwide deployment of the network infrastructure. He joined Qwest Communications in 2000 as director of eBusiness after the merger of US WEST and Qwest Communications. He also ran a print manufacturing plant and led a nationwide sales team.

Brown is very involved in the community. He served on the board for the American Red Cross as finance director, and the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity as the immediate past president of the Denver alumni chapter. He also is active in the Rotary, Urban League, Purdue alumni organization, and Columbia University alumni organization.

Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., and a master’s in Business Administration from Columbia University in New York, N.Y.

Brown, his wife and two children live in Denver.
