Byron Clymer
VP Infrastructure Services
EMBARQ

Byron Clymer is the Vice President of Infrastructure Services at Embarq Corporation. He has responsibility for delivering Information Technology’s services related to computing and communications, workplace technologies, application infrastructure, help center, surveillance, production management, information security and database administration. In addition, Byron is responsible for the long term strategy and technology evolution for infrastructure services at EMBARQ.

Byron began his career at Sprint in 1994. Since joining Sprint he held numerous roles within the Information Technology organization ranging from software engineer to executive management. In 2002 Byron was named Director Application Development supporting the Network Services and Sprint Business organizations. He led the creation and adoption of the streamlined agile development process and reduced the overall application footprint while increasing the delivery throughout the organization.

In 2003, Byron led the consolidation of the network information systems supporting the three Sprint divisions (local, long distance, wireless) into one organization. In 2004 he was responsible for creating the strategy and execution plan for the newly formed Information Technology Services Program Management Office, setting the direction for the tools, methodologies and processes for day-to-day operations of the organization.

In 2005 Byron became the Vice President of Application Development for EMBARQ where he was responsible for development and production support of EMBARQ’s CRM, Billing, eCommerce and OSS platforms. In July of 2008 Byron was appointed to his current position of Vice President of Infrastructure Services. Byron received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Nebraska Wesleyan University. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska.
