Dan Carlson is Director of IT Security at Meredith Corporation ( www.meredith.com),  one of the nation’s leading media and marketing companies with businesses centering on magazine and book publishing, television broadcasting, integrated marketing and interactive media.     His responsibilities include architecting, implementing, and operating  the IT security framework,  SOX IT controls compliance,   PCI Data Security Standard compliance,  and business continuity and disaster recovery planning for businesses across the enterprise.   

Dan earned his MBA degree (management information systems concentration) from The University of Iowa and an engineering degree from Iowa State University.     He has been with Meredith Corporation for 16 years in various technology and technology management capacities including the previous 7 years directing Meredith’s IT security and business continuity programs.  Prior to Meredith, Dan was at Shell Oil Company for 9 years developing SCADA systems and then supporting technology at a geologic research center.   Dan serves a local Boy Scouts of America troop as Assistant Scoutmaster.   He and his wife, Deb, reside in Clive, Iowa and have a son who is a sophomore in college and a son who is a senior in high school.
