Nick Cannizzaro
GTS Supervisor/Lead Infrastructure Systems Architect
Joy Global Inc.
Nick started working for Joy Global Inc in November of 2005. He was initially brought in to redesign their Active Directory environment as a Technical Services Analyst, but his role quickly evolved into that of an Infrastructure Systems Architect. For the Milwaukee data center, Nick proposed and oversaw the implementation of a server virtualization project while at the same time he migrated them to a tiered storage model that was marketed to the executive leadership team as a Data Protection Model. The success of these strategies led to their implementation in another Joy Global data center located in Franklin, PA. Phase 3 of this project is now being investigated, which is centered around the replication of critical business data and virtual servers between these two sites for the purpose of disaster recovery and business continuity.
Most recently, Nick has been functioning as a supervisor of the Global Design team where he has 5 Infrastructure Systems Architects reporting to him. With IT operation support groups located on 6 continents, Nick's team has the flexibility to pull in resources as needed from any of those teams to assist in their projects. At this time, his team is leading the initiative to migrate 5500 users from the existing Novell file and print environment to a new Active Directory Forest while at the same time migrating their email environment from GroupWise to Exchange.
